Aside from the strive to use modern collaboration tools, many people still live in email as their main form of business communication. Microsoft’s “any device” approach means we’re seeing more support for Outlook and other Office apps on the Mac, but there are still some functionality differences.
Here are a couple of features that are missing on the Mac, which have recently been flagged by the Office team as in development or preview:
Add the option to request a read receipt on an email you are sending:
Yup, this was missing from Outlook 2016 for Mac! It’s now been added to the Insider Fast Channel (Build 15.34.404). See the uservoice request to follow the status.
Support for GMail, iCloud calenders etc (CalDEV):
Missing the option to add calendars from other popular SaaS providers can be a showstopper for Mac lovers, who don’t tend to live in the Office 365 platform. As of 31 March 2017, the ability to add Gmail calendar and contacts has been released into the Insider Fast preview channel (build 15.33.228). See the uservoice request to follow the status.
