The sleek, silver Sony box was impressive in its day but that was over 18 years ago. Now weve got all the wireless and internet connected things, Im spoilt for choice. Ive done some online research but Im not a detailed, melancholic personality type. An instore demonstration of the Bose and Sonos systems has me convinced that Sonos is the way to go. But Im still unsure about handing over that amount of money right now for some nicer sounds. Ultimately, my purchasing transaction is likely to be handled by someone in a retail store hopefully someone who treats us better than the last guy we dealt with.

RIP the Australian sense of humour, murdered by Twitter.

OK, lets cut right to the chase on this one. Does anyone on twitter still have a sense of humour? Have we become so politically correct that our comedians will suddenly find themselves searching for other employment? Do we know the difference between fun and trolling, or is funny now attacked if it remotely offends anyone?

Yup, Ive pulled out the big guns on this one and Im waiting to be shot down.

Hands up if you need a Smartphone Pledge!

Over the last few days, a few articles have come my way (including one I wrote myself) about smartphone addiction and the impact of our always connected society. My favourite so far has been this fromm Joe Kraus at Google Ventures:http://joekraus.com/were-creating-a-culture-of-distraction

Hi, my name is Sonia and Im addicted to my smartphone. Except its not my phone itself per se, its that feeling of knowing what is going on right now and what my internet friends are talking about. Ive reverted to my teenage self and I dont want to miss out, on anything, even for an hour.

Its not you, its your content

Today, my twitter account @CTAspley was unfollowed. Publicly.
The person who unfollowed me sent a tweet that mentioned my name, and said as Id unfollowed them first, they would reciprocate. Boo hoo.

The impact of this is that I became aware of the unfollowing, and anyone that they follow also saw that Id unfollowed that person. After that sentence, do you still follow me? If you use twitter, that probably made sense.
